THIS VINYL IS MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL 1/4" ANALOG TAPES!
Recorded Live at Brixton Sundown on December 30th 1972, this the last show on the “Space Ritual" UK tour which consisted of 28 totally sold out shows.
NASA was still firing men at the moon when space guerrillas Hawkwind conceived the Space Ritual, a two hour touring extravaganza that took its cue from Science fiction, but travelled quickly to a universe unlike any other. From the opening static of “Space” to the alien foreboding of “Welcome To The Future” through poems, riffs and electronic mayhem, the Space Ritual was alternately terrifying, invigorating and utterly believable. Indeed, as vocalist Robert Calvert warned as the journey took another sudden twist, “this is reality…however grim”.

BAUHAUS RETURN WITH FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 25 YEARS NOW AVAILABLE ON 180 GRAM WHITE VINYL LIMITED TO 1000
Bauhaus are the founding fathers of goth rock, creating a minimalistic, overbearingly gloomy style of post-punk rock driven by jagged guitar chords and cold, distant synthesizers. Throughout their brief career, the band explored all the variations on their bleak musical ideas, adding elements of glam rock, experimental electronic rock, funk, and heavy metal. While their following has never expanded beyond a cult, they kept their cult alive well into the '90s, a full decade after they disbanded. ‘Go Away White’ was recorded in 18 days at Zircon Skye in Ojai, with singer Peter Murphy, bassist David J, guitarist Daniel Ash, and drummer Kevin Haskins playing together as a band in one room, taking first takes as final cuts. So, a new record but apparently a final one, the band having decided to release it as a posthumous swan song.‘Go Away White’ is everything you would hope Bauhaus would deliver as their final statement. Fronted by a cover photo of Bethesda, the angel of the healing waters in New York's Central Park, the music inside is pure cathartic renovation, a psychedelic glimpse into an enchanted moment. Aided in part by guitarist Daniel Ash's inspired use of Jimi Hendrix's own personal Vox wah wah pedal, gifted to him by Peter Murphy at the start of the sessions, it is pop as much as it is experimental.
The 10 songs on ‘Go Away White’ channel the kind of magic timelessness you could imagine on a mighty bill with Joy Division, Bowie, Devo, the Creatures, Antony, My Bloody Valentine, and Kraftwerk--with Oscar Wilde playing master of ceremonies. As the NME once said, "Bauhaus are to Goth, what Radiohead are to Prog." It's all building blocks. Give ‘Go Away White’ an honest minute and you'll realize that The Klaxons, The Killers, The Rapture and Foals all got their beats from Bauhaus, and how--without them--there would be no Nine Inch Nails or Jane's Addiction or Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, AFI, TV on the Radio, Interpol, Hot Hot Heat or LCD Sound System.

FANTASTIC 180 GRAM DOUBLE VINYL RE-ISSUE OF THIS CLASSIC OF ENGLISH POST PUNK, ALBUM FEATURES NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE ON VINYL EXCLUSIVE TRACKS
Killing Joke's third album, Revelations, produced by Conny Plank, was issued in 1982, and supported by a pair of performances on The John Peel Show and by the singles "Chop-Chop" and "Empire Song". The LP reached #12 in the UK Top albums.
By 1982, members of Killing Joke, especially Coleman, had become immersed in the occult, particularly the works of occultist Aleister Crowley. In February of that year, Coleman, with Geordie and Youth following shortly after, relocated to Iceland to survive the Apocalypse, which Coleman predicted was coming soon. While in Iceland, Coleman and Geordie worked with musicians from the band Þeyr. After a few months, Youth decided there was no indication of the Apocalypse, and decided to relocate back to England. Youth then began the band Brilliant with Big Paul, but the latter defected and traveled to Iceland to rejoin Killing Joke with new bassist Paul Raven (previously of Neon Hearts and the rock / glam band Kitsch) in tow. After spending some time in Iceland, Killing Joke returned to England and began touring and recording again. |

FANTASTIC 180 GRAM DOUBLE VINYL RE-ISSUE OF THIS CLASSIC OF ENGLISH POST PUNK, ALBUM FEATURES NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE ON VINYL EXCLUSIVE TRACKS
Outside the Gate is the seventh album by English post-punk group Killing Joke and is the most controversial release among their fans. It differs from all other Killing Joke albums in that the dominant instrument is the synthesiser instead of the guitar. Whilst guitarist Geordie Walker is present, his role is much reduced and both bassist Paul Raven and drummer "Big Paul" Ferguson were fired by singer/keyboard player Jaz Coleman during the recording of the album. It is often considered to be more of a Coleman solo album than a true Killing Joke release. Judged purely on its own merits it is musically very ambitious and makes the greatest use of Coleman's classical compositional skills of any Killing Joke album to date. Coleman has stated that the band's record company forced him (and Walker) to release the album under the Killing Joke flag in order to best recoup its considerable production costs. For example, Coleman claims that £15,000 was spent just in trying to record Ferguson's drums, before he was fired and entirely replaced by session player Jimmy Copley. The album was not promoted with a tour and Coleman and Walker temporarily disbanded the group after its release as they became embroiled in a lengthy legal battle to extricate themselves from their recording contract. |

LTD DOUBLE WHITE & BLACK 180G VINYL EDITION OF THIS KILLING JOKE CLASSIC
The first classic album features some of the bands most powerful and famous tracks, such as the singles Requiem, War dance and album fan faves the Wait and Compilcations.
Killing Joke are a English post-punk rock band formed in 1979. Founding members Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman (vocal, keyboards and arrangements) and Geordie Walker (guitars) have been the only constant members.
Original drummer "Big Paul" Ferguson once described their music as "the sound of the earth vomiting". Killing Joke's music typically consists of metallic guitars and heavy, tribal, and danceable rhythms. Coleman's vocals are sometimes in a talk-sing style, sometimes a malevolent-sounding growl and sometimes emotional and melodic. Dark, ominous synthesizer loops and even sweeping, gothic keyboards appear to varying degrees, and indeed were a song-driving element on their mid 80s albums. Geordie never plays solos, but his unique style has earned him praise from the likes of Edward Van Halen and Jimmy Page. Killing Joke influenced many later bands, such as Nirvana, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Napalm Death, Big Black, Prong, Metallica, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Econoline Crush, Faith No More and Korn, all of whom have at some point cited some debt of gratitude to 'The Joke'.

Fire Dances (1983), contains music that, like that heard on the "Birds Of A Feather" single, is artier and relatively calmer than before, which began a new direction. FANTASTIC 180 GRAM DOUBLE VINYL RE-ISSUE OF THIS CLASSIC OF ENGLISH POST PUNK, ALBUM FEATURES NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE ON VINYL EXCLUSIVE TRACKS
Brighter Than a Thousand Suns is the sixth album by English post-punk group Killing Joke. It was released in 1986 on LP, on CD and on cassette by EG Records. The CD and cassette versions have three bonus tracks.
The music on Killing Joke's sixth album, Brighter than a Thousand Suns (1986), was mostly similar in sound and mood to "Love like Blood". While no less aggressive and heavy than their older work, Brighter than a Thousand Suns diverged musically in ways that lead to controversy among listeners. In this case disagreements between fans and critics alike included opinions on whether the band was conforming with pressures from EG Records to develop a more commercial sound, to whether the songs were relevant for those listeners more comfortable with their proto post-punk beginnings. Those who are strongly approving of the work consider it a milestone - and quite intense - progressive rock album, and their most consistent work to date. Two singles were released from the album - "Adorations" and "Sanity" - and the band continued touring successfully until the end of the year. |

FANTASTIC 180 GRAM DOUBLE VINYL RE-ISSUE OF THIS CLASSIC OF ENGLISH POST PUNK, ALBUM FEATURES NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE ON VINYL EXCLUSIVE TRACKS
In late 1979, KILLING JOKE began the Malicious Damage record label with graphic artist Mike Coles as a way to press and sell their music; Island Records distributed the records, until Malicious Damage switched to E.G. Records in 1980. The songs on Killing Joke's early singles were primitive punk rock sometimes mixed with funk ("Nervous System") and dub/reggae ("Turn to Red") styles. Their 'Nervous System/Turn To Red' EP came to the attention of legendary DJ John Peel, who was keen to champion the band's urgent new sound and gave them extensive airplay. They quickly progressed this sound into something denser, more aggressive, and more akin to heavy metal, as heard on their first two albums, Killing Joke (1980) and the more abrasive What's THIS For...! (1981). They toured extensively throughout the UK during this time, and both fans of post punk and heavy metal took interest in Killing Joke through singles such as "Follow the Leaders" (1981). |
