Straight out of London and at the forefront of the UK Ska-Punk scene, King Prawn are one of the most well respected and most exciting live bands in Britain today. Since forming in 1993, King Prawn has been the subject of a continuous flow of appraisal from the Music Press and fans alike. They were nominated at the 1998 Kerrang! Awards in the Best New British Band category and again at the 2000 Kerrang! Awards in the "Spirit Of Independence" category.

Through regular touring and broad exposure to different audiences, King Prawn has achieved an impressive reputation for their live performance. They have shared the bill with a variety of bands including Madness, Less Than Jake, Therapy, Snuff, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Mad Caddies, Good Riddance, One Minute Silence, Agnostic Front, the Toasters, the Slackers, prince Buster, the Selector & Desmond Decker. They've even performed on the same prime time Italian TV show as UK pop group Atomic Kitten! In attempts to describe the band, words such as Ski-Punk_Hip_hop_Metal are often strung together.

These descriptions together with the bands angst-driven social commentary, lead to comparisons with The Specials, Asian Dub Foundation, Dead Kennedys & RATM to name a few. Such comparisons give little more than a clue as King Prawn have a distinctive style of their own with great songs & exciting stage performances, placing them on the cutting edge of the UK music scene. The Prawn's debut album "First Offence" hit the UK streets in 1995 on the cult punk label Words Of Warning. Co produced by long time friend Ace (Of Skunk Anansie fame) the recordings were harsh and hard hitting. The second album "Fried In London" was released in 1997 - a classic album in real terms. Every song hit new heights.

This album spurned such killer tracks as Racist Copper, Increase The Pressure, Survive and Not Your Punk. Extensive touring earned King Prawn a reputation as one of the hardest working, best respected bands on the emerging UK Ski Punk scene. However due to the bands musical versatility they were never confined to one scene, thus giving them the freedom to share the bill with traditional Ska bands, Ska Punk & Metal bands alike. "Champagne, Cash And Fat Cigars" followed with the much heralded signing in January 2000 to newly formed label Spitfire Records.

The album "Surrender To The Blender" was preceded by the EP "Your Worst Enemy", followed by singles "Day In Day Out" and "Someone to Hate". 2000 saw KP take on the European music circuit with on going tours in Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Italy, Sicily, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Spain and Austria to name but a few. The end of 2001 saw the band take on a hectic touring schedule, as well as financing, writing and recording their fourth and most ambitious album to date. Once again the album was produced by Ace with Roger Tebbit in the engineers seat. This brand new album titled "Got The Thirst" has just been released on Golf Records - indie cxhart placing at 28, KKKK review in Kerrang, the band play Reading and Leeds...
