Formed in late 2003 Consisting of Matt Steed - Vocals and Bass, Jon Priestley - Guitar and Backing Vocals and Jay Jones - Drums Black Flame Dispute are a band that doesn't sound like any other, there is a unique blend of all music types in the sound and is not just another generic sounding outfit that seems to be plaguing the alternative music scene today.

The Idea in the band is to play dark melodic music that is both emotional and thought provoking. Drawing on influences from a wide range of music styles such as Tool, The Cure, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Ministry to name but a few, this will help give you an idea of the sound of the band. Although the band was comfortable as a three-piece Matt wanted to concentrate solely on his vocals because the vocal lines and bass lines were more intricate and melodically split. So, there was need to recruit a new bass player so enter Rob Knight who joined the band in March 2004 relieving Matt of his bass duties.
