'The Gathering 2008' saw the original Killing Joke line up play live in London at two historic sold out concerts for the first time since 1982. This CD limited edition boxset packs both concerts together for the very first time. Both concerts are presented in full with no overdubs, professional recorded and even contain a brand new track for the event 'Time Wave'. The original tribal sound of Killing Joke that catapulted the band into the early 80s is heard here at its very best, and anyone who was lucky enough to a have attended will confirm these really were a truly one off set of concerts. With original drummer Big Paul Ferguson & Youth back on board, the first two classic albums 'Killing Joke' & 'What's This For!' are played for the first time EVER in their entirety. Also preformed over the two nights are many rare tracks that have not been heard for the best part of 25 years! These two stunning concerts are also available separately as two double disc sets (EWO040CD & EWO041CD).

About the release Jaz Coleman said "Can you imagine it, the original line up hasn't been in the same room since 24th February 1982 and I am waiting for Paul to arrive here at Youths studio in Granada, Spain at any moment. Like most preconceptions the reality is always different.The door opens and there he is, we embrace, still the same athletic build, the same impeccable manners, the same fire in his eyes. Inwardly I am delighted for I feel we have truly transcended any petty differences of the past. As most people are aware there have been many incarnations of Killing Joke over the years, however the original line up bears no comparison to later line ups, neither socially or musically. For example there are always two people moving in opposite directions. In the present tense this manifests as Youth insisting that we write some new songs for the tour whereas my concern is learning five hours of music (ie two sets) always the revolutionary and the reactionary, simultaneously. Our conversations and debates follow a similar pattern. As for the sound it is far from polished to put it mildly but when it locks in it is both emotional and devastating. For me, my life seems strangely complete with these characters (who, when all is said and done, are family) We started as teenagers together. Killing Joke was our further education and now we are all approaching fifty!"
Here then is the raw beautifully imperfect soundtrack to so many peoples lives least of all our own.

Digital re-mastered & includes an unreleased bonus DVD ‘Live in USA’ from 1981 containing 11 tracks. 3 live tracks available for the first time EVER on CD! (Pssyche, Turn to Red & Bodies) Originally released in 1983 as a 2000 only individually numbered cassette, ‘The Original Unperverted Pantomime’ contains one of the earliest Killing Joke gigs recorded from 1979 that includes many songs that never got released like ‘Your Being Followed’,’ Malicious Boogie’, ‘Animal’, ‘Nuclear Boy’ and the rarely played Sex Pistols track ‘Bodies’. Also included is a 4-track radio session from 1982.

KILLING JOKE - THE PEEL SESSIONS 79 - 81 - RELEASE DATE: 08/09/2008
Once described by Ferguson as ‘the sound of the earth vomiting’, Killing Joke is anthemic and grandiose in it’s evocation of nightmare visions. Taking a sarcastic jab at authority and perceived reality to a sonically charged mixture of post punk and metal, Killing Joke’s heavy guitars and pounding tribal drums conjure a primitive atmosphere of doom, gloom and resistance.

• The Peel Sessions were recorded between '79 and '81. The sleeve notes were written by Alex Paterson of The Orb (before The Orb he was the band's roadie)
• Tracks 1-14 are Peel Session tracks, 15-17 are a bonus Richard Skinner session from the same period.
• This is the first time the tracks have been made available on CD and DD.
• The tracks featured on this album are much rawer and some predate their studio counter parts by some months.
• This is the KJ fans holy grail and this original line-up, including now top producer Youth, start a world tour in Japan in early September. They will only be playing material from the era covered by this CD.

R.I.P Paul Raven - 1961 - 2007
Our beloved Paul Raven died unexpectedly of a heart attack in Geneva in the early hours of Saturday October 20th 2007. Paul went to bed and did not wake up.
